On the 26th of April 2022, the minister of Gender Child and Social Welfare got the opportunity to accompany the vice president H.E Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior for a visit at the GBV and Juvenile court.
This was the first visit from her Excellency to the institution since its official opening in 2020. The government of South Sudan and partners inaugurated a special gender-based violence (GBV) court to expedite trials and also handle juvenile cases in the country. The operationalization of gender-based violence and the juvenile court was meant to hold perpetrators of gender-based crimes accountable.
In the visit, there was a briefing from institutions concerned and also an opportunity to reflect on the commitments made. This was also a good opportunity for the ministry to see how much they have achieved and how to re-strategies and recommit to perform better.
