16th June, 2022
The state ministers, partners, stakeholders and children from different schools in Juba met on the 16th of June 2022 at Nyakuran cultural center, in commemoration of the Day Of The African Child. This was in remembrance of the school children who marched on 16th June, 1976, in South Africa protesting against the poor quality of education and demanding their right to be taught in their own language resulting to their brutal massacre by the Police.
This day also raises awareness of the continuing need for improvement of the education provided to African children. This year, the Day was being commemorated under the theme: “protect children from harmful cultural practices and enhance policy implementation in South Sudan.”
This theme emphasized on the policy implementation to ensure children are protected from the harmful cultural practices and to allow children to grow, develop and mature properly during their childhood period. #DAC2022 #protectourchildren
