The Minister of Gender Child and Social Welfare , Hon. Aya Benjamin led a delegation  to attend and participate in the sixty-sixth session of the Commission on the Status of Women which took place in New York at the United Nations Head Quarters. The Delegation included National Ministers, Governor of Western Bhar-el-gazal, Deputy governor of Central Equatoria and Undersecretaries from ministry of Gender, Environment and Agriculture.)

 

 

The Priority theme for this year was: Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes; while the Review theme: Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work (agreed conclusions of the sixty-first session);

The CSW was chaired by the permanent representative of the republic of south Africa to the United Nations . H.E Ambassador Mathu Joyini. Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world attended and contributed  to the session.

On the 22, March 2022, The Minister of Gender Child and social welfare , Hon. Aya Benjamin Warille presented the statement of the republic of south Sudan.

In her statement the minister gave assurance stating that ,the Republic of South Sudan was committed to implementing the international and regional normative standards on women’s right, Gender equality, climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction; and prevention of COVID 19. These include the CEDAW, Maputo Protocal, The Rio conventions, the Paris Agreement and the Glasgow Declaration on deforestation and land use.
